BlueTroop (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how the BlueTroop mobile application (the “App”) handles information when you use it.
BlueTroop is designed to help group leaders monitor and count people using Bluetooth tags.
1. Information We Collect
BlueTroop is designed to collect as little information as possible.
The application does not collect personal data and does not require users to create an account.
Information processed locally on your device
The App may process certain information locally on your device, including:
Bluetooth tag information
- Bluetooth identifiers from nearby BlueTroop tags
- Signal strength (RSSI) used to estimate distance
- Detection timestamps of nearby tags
User configuration
- Names or identifiers assigned to tags
- Group configurations created by the user
- Detection settings and preferences
This information is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to BlueTroop servers.
2. Permissions Required
The App may request certain device permissions in order to function.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth access is required to detect nearby BlueTroop tags and monitor their presence.
Location (Android devices only)
Some Android versions require location permission in order to perform Bluetooth scanning.
BlueTroop does not access, track, or store your geographic location.
Location permission is used only because it is required by the Android operating system to allow Bluetooth scanning.
Notifications
The App may request permission to send notifications in order to alert users when a tag becomes missing or moves out of range.
3. Data Storage
All application data is stored locally on your device.
This includes:
- tag information
- group configurations
- detection settings
- application preferences
BlueTroop does not operate a cloud service and does not store user data on external servers.
Users may delete all stored data at any time by removing tags/groups within the app or by uninstalling the application.
4. Purchases and Subscriptions
BlueTroop may offer optional paid features (such as Pro or Extended plans).
Payments and subscriptions are processed by the following platforms:
- Apple App Store
- Google Play Store
BlueTroop does not receive or store payment information such as credit card details. Payment processing is handled entirely by the app store providers.
Subscription status may be managed through the user’s app store account settings.
5. Third-Party Services
BlueTroop may rely on limited third-party services to manage subscriptions and purchases.
These services may include:
- Apple App Store
- Google Play Billing
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
These services may process limited technical information necessary to verify subscription status.
Each service operates under its own privacy policy.
6. Data Sharing
BlueTroop does not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties.
Because the App does not collect personal data or transmit user information to external servers, there is generally no user data to share.
7. Children’s Privacy
BlueTroop does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The App may be used in environments involving minors (such as schools, educational groups, or supervised activities), but it is intended to be operated by teachers, guides, or responsible supervisors.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to ensure that the App functions securely.
Because all user data is stored locally on the device, the protection of that data also depends on the security of the user’s device.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be updated.
Continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
